Dakaichi (2018)

Dakaichi: I'm Being Harassed by the Sexiest Man of the Year is a BL anime about two high-profile celebrities and their secret romance.

Nonetheless, this steamy series is too shallow, too sleazy, and too silly to be taken seriously beyond smut.

Partner's Territory (2019)

Partner's Territory is a short slice-of-life Korean BL anime.

The protagonist's new company has better working conditions. He must adjust to his foreign surroundings, the arranged marriage, and a horny husband who wants to share his affections.

Ugh, can you feel me shudder? The series is perfectly enjoyable as long as you don't have any relationship expectations.

Someone Else's BL Cartoon (2018)

Someone Else's BL Cartoon is a Korean BL anime about a high school romance.

Director Nora Twomey's unique animated drama film takes a much more nuanced approach to the topic of gender roles in society, with the dynamic becoming much more interesting as we see Parvana's growing friendship with others like herself.

A gritty and sexy anime, Mignon reveals a bold twist at the end of the first episode. Yet, their dangerous line of work threatens the livelihood of the untraditional family unit.

While Buddy Daddies isn't a BL anime, the story's themes contain implicit LGBTQ+ messaging.

The film’s themes about accepting those who are different make it a perfect Halloween watch for families.

Pixar really knows how to sprinkle representation into their magical worlds, don’t they?

Let's just say that people with good taste usually watch BL animes!

Despite its long history, there is surprisingly not a lot of anime to watch in this genre. Their relationship quickly escalates past professional boundaries when an attraction forms between the two men.

Initially, I dismissed Papa Datte, Shitai as frivolous yaoi erotica with zero sense or substance.

He must find the antidote to reverse this attraction.

Despite the unique fantasy setting and elegant atmosphere, The Perfect Prince Loves Me, the Side Character?! While the movie didn’t perform as well as expected at the box office (partly due to boycotts from certain groups), it represents a significant step forward for Disney in terms of authentic LGBTQ+ representation.

Later, the story perks up with a few compelling scenes that leave an emotional impact. While the prince's character design looks handsome, his personality is nonexistent. Each violent match leaves him wounded and in need of medical attention.

Kon’s direction is masterful, weaving together themes of family, redemption, and acceptance in ways that feel both heartwarming and authentic.

The film won numerous awards, including the Tokyo International Film Festival’s Tokyo Grand Prix, and it’s widely considered one of the greatest animated films ever made.

The characters must figure out the blurry line between a familial bond and an irresistible attraction.

I don't want to take Mori no Kuma-san too seriously since it's a raunchy anime with little substance. (And the one actually can be quite controversial! The story portrays a wholesome teenage crush with warmth and compassion. They accept the responsibility of becoming her caregiver.
