Why do straight men have sex with men?
There are many reasons, which I’ve discovered through my therapy practice:
ChildhoodSexual Abuse. I do not in any way feel this has any relation to my experimentation with boys or any question of sexual determination - I only bring this up to point out that I was exposed to sexuality (in a bad way!) at a very early age.
So, somewhere around 7 or so I distinctly recall having “show me yours, show you mine” with guy friends and that leading to other things like masturbation.
What do you think “experimentation” suggests about one’s sexuality (if anything)?
On second thought, ladies please feel free to include your experiences and thoughts about this, I’m sure that is equally as interesting.

Hmmm, well … I’m straight and the thought of experimenting has crossed my mind … I’ve never acted on it, but I think it’s a natural aspect of human sexuality.
I wouldn’t do anything, even after 6 beers, but sometimes its nice just to be asked.

Hey, im a straight guy and I have been hit on by some gay guys. This can’t help but produce a major guilt trip which necessarily has serious self-esteem consequences, sometimes even leading to suicide.
VERY rigid, literalist Christian types. (You can email me if you want with your answers if you’d prefer.)

First of all, “domination” has nothing whatsoever to do with it. Harvard University Press. Many boys while growing up participate in secret bonding experiences with other boys by masturbating together, and even masturbating each other (circle jerks).
Many women experience this and are not labeled as lesbians or bisexual. This stigma can lead to internal conflict, where men struggle to reconcile their behavior with their heterosexual identity. Some straight men enjoy receiving anal sex, and if they can’t get it from their wife or female partner because they feel judged or shamed, they turn to other men.
So basically, the question is for straight guys:
Have you ever had sexual contact with another male, and under what circumstances.
As a culture, we’ve begun to awaken in recent decades and acknowledge various previously unspoken manifestations of sexuality and eroticism, and we’ve devised and revised new labels for them, such as LGBTQ, pansexual, asexual, demisexual and more.
These experiences may be viewed as part of a person’s sexual development, rather than a sign of a changing sexual orientation. My past “experiments” with my guy friends began to really eat at me inside. It was fooling around, something the parents or other friends should never know about. (Im sure some of my friends would prolly call another gay if you looked at their weiner.)

panache45 - What do they not get from their marriage?
Should we then label them as “closet straights?” Or what of the many gay men who have had sex with women? Doesn’t do anything for me.
I think that there are “degrees of gayness” rather than a gay/not gay toggle.
Guys that experiment aren’t gay if they don’t think they are, I guess.
I can’t fathom the “convenience angle”, though I’m sure there are guys who “just have to fuck SOMEthing”…

Men don’t do it for me, never have.
It represents a sexual minority but a significant number nonetheless.
The National Health and Social Life Survey, reported by the Kinsey Institute, found that 9% of men reported having had at least one same-sex experience since puberty, even though a smaller percentage identified as bisexual or gay.
